Picture of the Week
That, ladies and gentlemen, freshly emerged from the box, is what may be the last brand new 427 Sideoiler block left on Planet Earth. And it's the ultimate 1968 version, the only year where you have the old man's option of hydraulic lifters. If you ordered one in your new Galaxie, it would be 525 hp as you drove it off the showroom floor. The highest horspower engine ever put in a production Ford. Couldn't get one in a Mustang, first time you stepped on the gas, you'd have to climb out the windows because the doors would be wedged shut.

Screw in freeze plugs, cross bolted main bearings, extra webbing, nickel in the cast iron, all oil goes to the crank first, the best Ford had when money was no object and they dominated every race track on earth that mattered.

It's been sitting in a box for 45 years, (35 years by the current owner, who now sure qualifies as old), expecting to be put in a Galaxie to battle the big Hemis on the High Banks, (and hoping it doesn't have the demeaning task of getting stuck in some lounge lizard sports car, just to humiliate 12 cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, double overhead cam ferraris, at some stupid race in France, and get American Big Blocks banned forever in Europe.)

It's in luck.
